Things That Aren’t There

A compilation of Barnsley-centric sounds available from the 17th of December 2010.  Yours for free or in exchange for a small donation to the Willow Foundation (a very worthwhile charity that organises special days for seriously ill young people); whatever you might see fit or can afford. Tracklisting, some added giveaways for budding philanthropists and possibly more will be revealed in the lead up to the release through this website and over on the Facebook event page.

And, if you’re in Barnsley this Saturday, there’s a lovely gig with Midnight Jive and The Exhibition at The Cedar Room above White Bear.

The Favio Bechthold Situation | Free Download

Please welcome to the Of National Importance Roster, The Favio Bechthold Situation, a musical project consisting of one sole member: Favio Bechthold. Favio is a music composer originally from Vancouver, Canada, who has resided in South Yorkshire, England for the past four years. The Favio Bechthold Situation’s style ranges from the epic sweep and earthy funk of David Axelrod to Krautrock. Self-producing the bulk of his work, Favio prefers recording in bedrooms and bathrooms rather than studios. Currently on tour in North America, the debut EP “Folk In Hell” will be released early 2011 through Of National Importance Records.

A preview of the EP, in the form of lead track “Sebulba’s Radish Garden”, can be downloaded for free from the following links below:

_____________

“The Crown is one of those songs that begins quite understated before swelling into something monumental. It’s a huge grower… In short, all the ingredients are there, and The Exhibition deserve to be huge.”
9/10 Whisperin And Hollerin

“What we are witnessing is a band beginning to fire on all cylinders. God help us all.”
8/10 Tasty Fanzine

“Genre-spanning alt.pop…The Exhibition are definitely well worth checking out if you like your guitar bands a little bit quirky and with serious musical talent involved.”
8/10 Sugar The Pill

“There is much to be admired on this debut from this Barnsley four-piece. Some nice guitar breaks and powerful drumming add to the sense of impending doom that pervades this excellent double A-sided slice of downbeat prog”
The Music Fix

“As pure a piece of indie powered-pop as you could wish to hear”
4/5 The Beat Surrender

“So infectious, so well constructed, I’m already beginning to think The Exhibition are worth inking into your 2010 must listen list”
4/5 Manchester Music

“Unashamedly progressive, a startling indicator of how far the group have come in such a short while. Its awkward 5/4 time signature fits the track perfectly, the watertight rhythm section driving it”
Music Fans Mic

“Barnsley Natives ‘the exhibition’ certainly pack a punch that cannot go unnoticed with this entrancing double ‘A’ side Single release”
8.5/10 Glen Reviews

“Attitude shines throughout, fantastically embedded within a tease of something tantalisingly darker; fast becoming their noticeable trademark”
Live Music Scene

“A sense of entertainment and a knack for being able to marry the up and down beat… you can imagine a full dancefloor or mosh pit reveling in these melancholic asides”
God Is In The TV

“This single is an absolute gem by any standards”
Sheffield Scenester

“Simply Put, nothing short of anthemic”
Sheffield Music Scene

The Exhibition have everything they need and combined with such a memorable single, I won’t be long until they seduce the top play-lists of 2010.”
